Ahoy Mateys! For those of you who don’t know me, here’s a basic synapse of my life: I dropped out of pre-school at an early age because I didn’t get along with my peers and subsequently went through a year-long obsession with Pocahontas, in which I befriended many animals and dressed like a Powhatan. My glory years occurred about eight years later at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, and since then, I’ve spent most of my time looking for waves to surf (went a bit overboard in choosing to live on the open ocean), playing with cats, and drinking tea. I guess I should also note that I’m a recent graduate of Boston College with a degree in International Studies and thousands of dollars in loans. For the next 6 months, I will begin my fierce quest to repay those loans by scrubbing toilets on board the National Geographic Sea Bird Expedition Ship. This blog is about all the ensuing perils, adventures, and seasickness that I may or may not encounter during my journeys. Welcome aboard!
